Meet Chef/Owner Stephen Larson
Stephen Larson hails from the small town of Brandon, South Dakota. After finishing a summer-long apprenticeship at a notable Minneapolis restaurant, he started cooking full-time while simultaneously finishing his high school education. Upon graduation, he headed back to the Twin Cities to get his formal culinary training. Stephen attended the much lauded culinary program at St. Paul Vocational College and in 1984 he was allowed to graduate three weeks early in order to accept the first of many head chef positions he has held. His resume includes a long list of the Twin Cities finest and most critically acclaimed restaurants. During that time he was also a very popular cooking class instructor at Cook's of Crocus Hill. In 1994, he and his wife Lisa Flicker decided to ditch the big city life for one in rural Minnesota. In 2001, they opened Gourmets' Garden B&B Cooking School which was in operation until the fall of 2009 when the call of the restuarant world beckoned Stephen back into the professional kitchen. QUARTER/quarter Restuarant and Wine Bar opened in January of 2010 and now enjoys its own following of loyal customers from both near and far.
