Why name a restaurant QUARTER/quarter?
A quarter/quarter, in rural terms, is 40 acres. Forty acres of land has great historical significance in America. In 1832 the smallest area of land that could be acquired was reduced to the 40 acre quarter-quarter section, thus making it possible for many more people to afford to start a farm. To our ancestors, forty acres was synonymous with the word “opportunity”. A quarter/quarter of land represented the opportunity to earn a living, become a productive part of a rural community, and provide for your family. Welcome to our “quarter/quarter”.

Q/q Food Philosophy
My philosophy is simple; start with minimally processed ingredients and prepare them in a way that coaxes the maximum flavor impact out of the dish while maintaining a balance between good nutrition and indulgence. Enjoy life, eat good food but don’t over-do it, be kind to others and don’t take things too seriously…that’s simple enough isn’t it?

Our Ingredients
Many people these days ask about the local/sustainable/organic aspects of the ingredients we use here at Q/q. My answer is that we raise much of our own organic produce* and it doesn’t get any more local or sustainable than that. However, we need to supplement what we use from other sources; some of those sources will be local (sustainable, organic, etc.) and some won’t; that’s just how it works in our situation and it continues to be a work in progress.
